Luxury Boutqiue Hotel

A hotel property that is intertwined with island society since the 19th Century, Tiberio Palace overlooks the Capri hillside above the Marina Grande a short but inconvenient walk from La Piazzetta. A hotel fixture for early luminaries, today the hotel is benefitting from a grand refurbishment that retains much of the lobby's retro charm including its lively bar with industrial light fixtures and décor that mixes elements of mid-century and deco Italian design. On hotel par with nearby properties like the JK Capri and Villa Grande, a more contemporary aesthetic prevails popular with a younger, moneyed, Italian demographic that linger in the hotels Jacky Bar with its open archways and grand terrace offering nightly live jazz throughout summer. As for dining, the restaurant is a bit more austere with formal eatery and covered terrace led by a top-notch local chef. The well-designed spa by Acqua di Parma offers boutique services at respectable prices compared to its Beauty Farm and Quisi competition and well-equipped gym. A first-floor pool offers indoor swimming hall with small outdoor wading section surrounded in loungers but lacking the posh scenes of other Capri hotel properties. The beauty of the hotel lies in its details like a rooftop spa with on-demand mojitos lounge and in-lobby Taschen bookstore.

The Room

Larger than it first appears, a total of 60 rooms includes 20 suites and private residence framed within a palazzo-style structure with views that vary from panoramic to the interior village. Entry-level superior rooms are compact spaces with exquisite wood-inlay floors and single queen bed situated in front of large picture windows with singular writing desk but limited living space. Junior suites are plusher with loft-layout with pastel-colored décor but furnishings and placement that could use reworking. Larger suites prove grander spaces with bold Tiffany blue walls and living rooms with mid-century Italian décor facing large, private balconies with views of the sea and Capri hillside.
